When I think about what led me to create Leora Place, I realize it wasn’t one particular moment. It was a journey shaped by more than 20 years in medicine, a passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin, and some unexpected challenges with my own health along the way.
I began my career in orthopedics, where I spent nearly a decade caring for patients and gaining an appreciation for the incredible complexity of the human body. In 2013, I transitioned into medical aesthetics, and quickly discovered a new passion. I loved the combination of medicine and artistry, the relationships I built with patients, and the confidence that even small, thoughtful enhancements could bring.
For more than a decade, aesthetics became a meaningful part of my professional life. And honestly, it’s something I still love just as much today.
But in 2020, my journey took an unexpected turn.
After dealing with long COVID and Lyme disease, I found myself experiencing healthcare from a very different perspective. Despite my medical background, I knew what it felt like to be frustrated, exhausted, and searching for answers. It was a humbling experience that changed the way I thought about health and the importance of truly listening to patients.
Eventually, I began working with an integrative physician who introduced me to a more comprehensive approach to wellness.
That experience sparked a curiosity that grew into another passion: functional medicine. I became fascinated by the opportunity to look at the bigger picture, consider how different aspects of our health are connected, and help people take a more active role in their well-being.
And that’s where the idea for Leora Place began to take shape.
I didn’t want to leave aesthetics behind, because I believe there is tremendous value in helping someone feel beautiful and confident. But I also knew I wanted to help people in another way, drawing on what I’d learned through my personal health journey.
